1) Don’t ask for monetary compensation, corner your users into it.
2) Destroy all the functionality we were using yesterday by making features we’ve been using for years a monthly pay feature tomorrow.
3) Blame it all on a YouTube API update.

Folks, I’d be more than happy to pay for TubePress pro, but hell if I’m going to add another pain in the ass monthly bill to the millions of other things I have to keep track of and under the duress of the fact that you’re taking away functionality I had for free yesterday. Bad business, little thinking, downright foolish move.

Personally, I’m seeking alternative solutions at this point. Not because you’re too expensive, not because I won’t pay — BUT, because of the tactic you’re employing. Really uncool.

I agree, we have over 600 videos on our website and used tubepress to categorise them for particular sections of our site using the playlist shortcode, all thumbnails now point to this particular video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UKY3scPIMd8 instead, I have followed all the steps on the official support forum but it didnt work, then i seen that the topic is locked and check out the last post in the topic by tubpress staff, being held to randsom, no thanks, uninstalled, goodbye: https://community.tubepress.com/topic/5633-how-to-enter-your-google-api-key-into-tubepress/

I just reinstalled 3.1.7 works fine

I couldnt activate 3.1.7. because of an fatal error its causing.

Does anyone have an alternative plugin for getting videos from a certain youtube playlist? Thanks.

sorry tubepress but since your last update i no longer install your plugin. what you did is like wordpress doing an update and only 3 pages showing of your website unless you pay for the rest to show. Not fair you make the pro now do what the free version did. Should have thought about that before you released.

Just a shitty thing to do…

They destroyed a whole section of my site. AND — It’s not that I won’t pay because it isn’t worth the money, it’s simply that I REFUSE to pay these bastards because of the shady, forceful way in which they destroyed a plugin I’d been using for such a long time.

Screw you dumb bastards for implementing these shit business practices.

Forget tubepress all together. It’s no longer a tool or WP plugin as far as I’m concerned.

You folks screwed a whole lot of users over, without a care. Soon you’ll be gone. This isn’t how business is done. You don’t take away functionality — you add new, more desirable functionality and charge a premium for that.

If I could find the guy that made this decision and punch him square in the teeth, I would.

You can download the last fully-functional version here: https://www.ads-software.com/plugins/tubepress/developers/

And then just not update the plugin. That may introduce security issues and won’t get new features, but at least it restores features they removed in the new version.

Youtube changes the API so that version wont work. Didnt test it thought.

Also the security risk is one not to be taken lightly.
