I use a reCaptcha on my contact us page but if someone tries to use it without first accepting cookies then the recaptcha doesn’t load and the form is not submitted – worst of all no errors show. Are there cookies I should be allowing as necessary so that the reCaptcha will show even without cookies being accepted, or is this contrary to GDPR rules? If it is, how does anyone get around it?

The cookies I’ve tried allowing as necessary are: _GRECAPTCHA, rc::a, rc::b, rc::c and rc::f, but this still doesn’t work.

  • I am also having this issue, ReCaptcha on my Gravity forms not working until consent given. Also when I do a scan it doesn’t find any cookies related to ReCaptcha either.

I’ve had to turn reCAPTCHA off as I wasn’t receiving any form submissions (and no error message was showing) so I’d need to know when you could look at this. I could set up a private form with reCaptcha for you to look at?

    Hi @rosbiffer,

The issue seems to be related to the blocking of the cookie __cflb in the Functional category, which has the Script URL pattern: “hcaptcha.com”.

Please try again after moving this cookie to the Necessary category.

While moving cookies to the Necessary category, please make sure that it doesn’t store any personal information of the visitors. Also, consider seeking legal advice to ensure you’re meeting your obligations under GDPR and other relevant regulations.

If this didn’t fix your issue please connect with our support team after setting up a private form.

That seems to have done the trick, thank you – that has been bugging me for a long time!

Incidentally, why would a cookie from hcaptcha stop a recaptcha from showing? I don’t have hcaptcha installed on my site as far as I know
