How to assign a contact to a user?
-
I’ve got contacts, and I have a filter that reads ‘Assigned to me’. However, no contacts are assigned to me.
How do I assign a contact to me? How do I assign a contact to another user?

Hello @mastababa,
Where have you set up the filter for assigning the contact to you? You can share screenshots if that helps. You can create screenshots using something like Snipboard or Imgur and post the link here.
To assign contacts to you or a team member, you can follow the step-by-step guide on this page:
https://kb.jetpackcrm.com/knowledge-base/automation-triggers-and-actions/
If you need help to set up your Team, here’s a quick overview:

Hope that helps! Let me know how it goes and if you get stuck at any step, just let us know, and we’ll be glad to help.
Thanks for the quick response.
I have no problems setting up additional users, thanks.
I *am* a bit confused about the automation you mention: If I understand the page you link correctly, I need the ‘Automation’ plugin to, well, assign contacts to users automatically. Presumably on the creation of a contact.
I currently don’t have the Automation plugin. And, I would expect to not need this plugin to assign contacts to users. Not in the least because, without that plugin, I still have a button in my list of contacts that reads ‘Assigned to me’.
In addition, if I can use the Automation plugin to assign a user upon creation of a contact, how do I change, or set, the assignment, *after* the contact has been created? Surely, I wouldn’t be required to do this via this Automation plugin?
Hello @mastababa,
Let me address your questions one by one as follows ??
If I understand the page you link correctly, I need the ‘Automation’ plugin to, well, assign contacts to users automatically. Presumably on the creation of a contact.
I currently don’t have the Automation plugin. And, I would expect to not need this plugin to assign contacts to users. You don’t need a plugin because Automation is a tool that you already have in the core CRM plugin ??
You can access it from the CRM Dashboard, by clicking on Tool in the horizontal navigation bar — see screenshot here

And, I would expect to not need this plugin to assign contacts to users. Not in the least because, without that plugin, I still have a button in my list of contacts that reads ‘Assigned to me’.
Do you mean the
Assigned to
box on the right end of the Contact’s editor page? It’s the one on this screenshot here.****
if I can use the Automation plugin to assign a user upon creation of a contact, how do I change, or set, the assignment, *after* the contact has been created? Surely, I wouldn’t be required to do this via this Automation plugin?
The Automation plugin automatically assigns the contacts to specific users, so you don’t need to do it one by one every time a new contact is added to the CRM.
You can set the different assignments and automations at any time; ut goes without saying that any contacts created *before* the automation(s) get set will need to get assigned to a user manually.
You need to change the person assigned to the contact manually once the contacts has been created — whether or not automation is in place.
Hope that this has clarified things around! Please let me know if you have any further questions or doubts, and we’re happy to assist you.
Thanks. Number of points:
+ How is the ‘Automations’ plugin included in my free JetpackCRM install as well as listed as 79USD per year?
+ My ‘Tools’ menu has much fewer options than in your screenshot: “Task Scheduler”, “Forms”, “Data tools”, “Core modules”, “Extensions”.
+ The link you share in relation to the ‘Assigned to’ screenshot returns a page that says “No content has been streamed yet”. So, I can’t be sure that what you are referring to is what I’m referring to. But, by your description, I would say that, yes, it is.
+ My original question was exactly what you bring up towards the end: “You need to change the person assigned to the contact manually once the contacts has been created”. How do I do this?
Hi @mastababa!
How is the ‘Automations’ plugin included in my free JetpackCRM install as well as listed as 79USD per year?
Could you please share a screenshot of where you’re seeing that the Automations plugin is included in your free Jetpack CRM install? You can use https://snipboard.io/ to upload a screenshot and share the link with us.
My ‘Tools’ menu has much fewer options than in your screenshot: “Task Scheduler”, “Forms”, “Data tools”, “Core modules”, “Extensions”.
This is because some of those menu items belong to paid CRM extensions like Automations and CSV Importer Pro, or you need to enable a Core Module like WooCommerce Sync which is included in the free Jetpack CRM plugin.
The link you share in relation to the ‘Assigned to’ screenshot returns a page that says “No content has been streamed yet”. So, I can’t be sure that what you are referring to is what I’m referring to. But, by your description, I would say that, yes, it is.
I believe this is the same content that’s supposed to be on that screenshot: https://d.pr/i/8LAyLf
..which leads me to your last/main question:
My original question was exactly what you bring up towards the end: “You need to change the person assigned to the contact manually once the contacts has been created”. How do I do this?
To assign a contact to a user, please make sure to check the box for “Contact Assignment” option found in your Jetpack CRM Settings > General. Please check this screenshot: https://d.pr/i/rKD4iV

Hope these help!

Thanks.
+ My point was that the Automations plugin is *not* included for me. I was responding to Stef, who said “You don’t need a plugin because Automation is a tool that you already have in the core CRM plugin”.
+ Thanks for pointing me to that setting. It was exactly what I needed to be aware of.
Hi @mastababa,
Thanks for the clarification and I’m sorry for the confusion. For you to have the Automation tool in CRM, you’ll need to purchase the Automations plugin. This isn’t a free feature, I’m afraid.
