How To Auto Tag

@adviceassistant here are the steps:

1) Go to Tools > Auto Terms

2) You will be on a page with a table with all available CPT. Click the TAG ?? bulb icon for the CPT You want (for example, Posts).

3) Activate the Active Auto Tags option

4) Put the tags you want to automatically add at the Keywords list input field separated by comma (tag1, tag2, tag3, and so on)

5) Click Update Options button and the Posts TAG ?? bulb icon should be at ON state at this moment.

If You want to apply these settings to all existing Posts just click Auto terms all content button.

Thank you for the quick and helpful reply. Unless I am missing something I thought this system would read the content and apply recommended page or product tags. I do not want to place the same set of tags on each page. If it does what I am looking for please advise on how it can be accomplished.

@adviceassistant that’s also possible.

Under post you have a section called Suggested tags from where you can find the option local tags which will search your database for existing tags that match with your content.

Then You also have 3rd party providers which will give you tags for it.

For this 3rd party providers You need to go Settings > Simple Tags, click Administration tab and insert the API for the 3rd party provider you want to use. You can use all of them. For getting the API keys just follow the URLs under the fields.

Yes, I believe this is what I needed. I don’t have any current tags but the API stuff should work depending on any costs. Thanks!

Sure, what is the best api to use and setup? Is there a good free one? Some of the ones listed on the pluging are pretty confusing or don’t have websites that seem to work. I don’t see Yahoo or Google at all. Would love to use this plugin as I am trying to use Tag Machine 2.0 Pro and it seems broken for Woo Commerce products. Looking forward to your reply and thanks again for all the help.

@adviceassistant we took the plugin development lead a few weeks ago. We will add more to the plugin soon. For now, tag4site seems to be a very good service. You have a free tier to test.

OpenCalais seems to work also pretty well. For this one you just need to fill the registration form and wait some moments to receive the API key on your email.

Thank you again. I’m having tori lemon both sites. The OpenCalais doesn’t seem to send me any api info nor can I find it on their site after login. The tags4u pricing is not in English and as I look at costs was hoping to find a free api that can do 15-20k products. I guess I’ll continue to watch your plugin for future updates and just have to remain patient.

Hello, I was able to get an API token via Dandelion:

However, when I run auto terms for page tags here it doesn’t add any:

I also thought I got an api number for OpenCalais but not sure it was correct as it was through rapidapi.com here:

However, this may be a rapidapi key and not really go into that OpenCalais field. I never could figure out how to get that API key. When you link to their site it is very confusing.

Any help would be greatly appreciated…

@adviceassistant regarding OpenCalais, when You made the registration You should have received an email like this for activating the account:

After that, minutes later, You should have received an email like this giving you welcome and with the API Key in the middle:

I’m just seeing the auto terms enabled for Page Tags (bulb is on).

Ok, so very strange. I went back and I get the original email with the verification link. Which I did. No second email with the API ever received. So, today, I submitted and verified with a new email address to test. No API email received. I know you can’t support them or why this is happening, so I guess it is what it is. I don’t see a solid way to ask them to send me the API email again.

As for the screenshot of the light bulb…I was trying to show that we ran those posts and 0 tags were attached. The current API added was Dandelion access token. Why would it run those pages and not add any tags?

@adviceassistant don’t know. Will make some tests on my side and see if I can replicate with the steps you provide.
