How to automatically delete original image after optimization?

This feature would save me 551MB, making backups less heavy to handle. And I don’t need the unsmushed files in any case.
When can we expect this feature?

In the mean time, can I just delete the unsmushed files without anything bad happening?

Yes, you can delete unsmushed images without anything bad happening. The only thing that you should be aware of is that after the unsmushed images are deleted, you cannot optimize the image to a different level. Make sure you are set with optimization level before deleting them.

Thanks @nghidinhpham! I still hope the feature will appear in an upcoming release. But it’s good to know I can save >500MB from my account by manual deletion.

You can delete pictures (unsmushed) manually, but as said @nghidinhpham you cannot get a better optimization level. We’re working in bringing this option in the plugin, as it’s mainly asked ?? However it takes time to do, due to side effects to avoid!

@resmushit By deleting those images manually, do you mean they will be branded as “unattached” media in the media library so we can find them easily and delete them? (That’s my hope!)

@julienckjm Their filenames are *-unsmushed.jpg if that helps?

There needs to be a way to set this to happen automatically. It’s not realistic to go in and delete them all individually!
