How to avoid multiple bookings

Hello there,

Could someone kindly explain how can I avoid people making multiple bookings if an item is already booked on the dates that they are trying book it? I am building a site that rents out unique items (simple products with only 1 quantity. For example if an item is booked from say 14th of January to 18th of January, that item shouldn’t be available to book on any day between 14th of January to 18th of January. The earliest next available date should be 19th of January.
