“How to” block issues

  • Hi,

    I tried to implement the Ultimate Blocks how to schema on one of our pages (Wlan zu langsam) and struggled with a few things:

    1. It removed all image captions and I found no way to display them (They are necessary for 2 reasons: To give proper image credit and second to add a SEO image description)

    2. I found no way to controll the headings used for the how to headings. (I would like to use h2 for all in order to have a nice looking table of contents (like the one displaying now after first paragraph) that is not heavily nested. I use a seperate plugin for table of contents because

    3. Ultimate Blocks Table of contents does not display any headings used on how to schema. (I think in terms of SEO even if its a “how to” it still makes sense to add a table of contens because it adds a fragment URL and its also helpful to navigate users.

    4. Images added via “How to” are not clickable in frontend. I prefer to link all media to the media file but found no way to do this.

    5. Not sure if possible on “How to” in general but normally I use different image sizes to break up a boring image pattern.

    Hi @loano1,

    Thank you very much for the detailed post.

    1) That seems like a bug on our end. We will fix it.

    2) We don’t have option for that. We will add the option to control that.

    3) Right now, our Table of Content Block only detects headings from default Heading block and some third party heading blocks. We will work on to include headings from all other blocks.

    4) I believe that can be done. We will look into it.

    5) Do you mean a resize option inside HowTo Block?
