how can I categorize my image?

    Can somebody tell me how to categorize my image. For example if I have hundred images and trying to look for specific one for example horse and I only have two images related to horse I don’t want to look through all hundred images. I want to have the ability to search it or have it as a category. Is there anyone that can tell me how to accomplish this.
    I ready have the search box. Also if I’m looking for something it already recognizes the keywords but it only searches in my blog/post.I have a WordPress theme.Sorry I forgot to mention that I’m using theNextGEN gallery.
