    Hello all!

Trying to change the attribute name for quite a lot of simple products. Was expecting that if we change the attribute name under the Products > Attributes section. It should reflect as well to the existing products but very surprised it doesn’t do that. So how to easily go about that?

And is that not something logical? We can edit the name of the attribute under products > attributes section and it should reflect to the existing products where the attribute is tied up to?

Thanks in advance for any tips and insights into this matter.

    Hello there,

We can edit the name of the attribute under products > attributes section and it should reflect to the existing products where the attribute is tied up to?

That is what I should happen but it depends on the attribute. Did you use the attribute from Product > Attributes on the product or did you create a custom one for that specific product?

Custom ones will not change unless you do it manually for each of them.

The attribute was first created in the Products > Attributes then we used wp all import to import those products.

But it seems to be that “Is Taxonomy” is unchecked. So it may have been created as custom one?

So is there a quick way to change those names?

    Thanks!

It sounds like your attributes have been imported as custom attributes per product.
I suggest you ask the support folk at WP All Import how you can set the attributes contained in the import file to be set as Global Attributes when imported.
The import file should then assign then to the products as such and they will respond to name changes across your products.

Alternatively, you can export the products using the in-built exporter under Products ? All Products and then edit the CSV file via a spreadsheet to change the attribute names as required. Finally you can reimport them using the inbuilt product importer.

You can read more about the inbuilt CSV exporter here:
    https://docs.woocommerce.com/document/product-csv-importer-exporter/

I hope that helps you to figure it out.

We haven’t heard back from you in a while, so I’m going to mark this as resolved – if you have any further questions, you can start a new thread.

    Kind regards,
