How to Change default Google News Sitemap URL

You could use the plugin Redirection https://www.ads-software.com/plugins/redirection to set up a (permanent) redirect from /google-news-sitemap.xml to /sitemap-news.xml … this will allow you to keep using the /google-news-sitemap.xml with the added possibility of keeping count (an option in the Redirection plugin) of how many times that URL was requested ??

Right! But I shall be using it as last resort. Could you please help me if I could do so without using another plugin?

You could add a redirect rule in your .htaccess file?
