How to change defauly style without plugin

It should be as simple as downloading the new style sheet and giving it the same name as the default style sheet.
The style switcher, on the other hand, allows the reader to switch, at will, between two or more style sheets. You shouldn’t need that at all.

Hmm this sounds like a good method.
Could you tell me which file I would need to replace? Would overwriting wp-layout.css do it?

Hi. I have tried this and it appears to not work. I am probably doing something wrong so feel free to let me know. I rename the “wp-layout.css” file and overwrite it with the new style file(make IT “wp-layout.css”). I put the associated images in the proper locations and nothing seems to work… I have restarted apache a few times, is there some other servic I need to restart?

Nevermind. It is working now…Apparently the cache was displaying an outdated version of the page…

I downloaded a style I really liked at skins.b2evolution.net. There it says those skins are made having WordPress in mind. However, I don’t find similar files to substitute. Which ones should I change?
The files I downloaded are:
_archives.php
_calendar.php
_categories.php
_feedback.php
_linkblog.php
_main.php
slantgreen.gif
slantgray.gif
style.gif

Well all of us are struggling a little bit with what to actually call these things. But for what many of us would call a style / theme or even interface we would only be thinking in terms of the index php the layout css plus a few images possibly.
Once you start hacking at the wp files themselves you are into different territory.
By all means go there, but it is not strictly necessary, and you are altering the underlying WP install.
