How To Change Links Widget In Dynamic Sidebar

I am using the dynamic sidebar with the standard links widget. I would like to change it so that the links are just listed, say in alphabetical order by description, not broken out by category.

Is there a way to customize the current link widget,
Or is there another link widget that I can add in and use,
Or create my own link widget.
