    I’ve been using AmazonSimpleAdmin for years. Functionally, it’s worked well, but I’m now redeveloping my website, and I want to tweak the template for my books. Basically, the border is way too close to the content, making the book covers look squashed against the top-left corner. I can’t find a template customisation for this, and it’s affecting the look. Am I missing something? Is this something that can be customised?

    I don’t have tons of products, just a few books, but they do refer a reasonable amount of purchases. I want them to look as good as the rest of my new site.

  • Are you using custom templates? I presume you don’t. With those you can style your links any way you like them. Just add some margin and padding in your CSS and you’re done.

    @fjordkommission that’s right!

    @kimsr can you send me a link where I can see your issue? I guess it can be fixed with a few lines of custom CSS.

    Okay, now I’m feeling stupid.

    My new (and old) website has heavily customised CSS. I can’t provide a link, as it’s not live for a while yet.

    The developer asked me to pick an Amazon Associates plugin for the new site, and I looked at heaps, and still like the options with ASA best. I’m not a developer and don’t know what I’m doing with CSS etc, so I assumed all of that customisation offered was the only customisation possible.

    Thank you both for answering. @timo, is that something you could eventually offer in the customisation options, to make it super-easy for page admins to tweak?

    Also, side note (and where I feel extra stupid)… The ONLY reason I was considering moving away from ASA was because I am running a custom template – which should have answered my own question, but there you go – and I struggle to back up the template and reapply it, without needed help. I’ve never got it right, so now have to ask and pay someone external to do the updating. Is a “backup custom styling” (and “reapply custom styling”) button something you could build in?

    Again, sorry for wasting your time on what is a real rookie question. I’m pretty good at running my site, but once something looks like or references code or other inner workings, my head explodes.

    Don’t confuse page templates with custom templates.

    ASA1 allows for a great variety of customisations of the link templates it uses to display amazon products. The most prominent being the ad-like box with the product photo, name, and price.

    You can copy those, an HTML file and a CSS file, from the plugin’s subfolder “tpl/built-in” to the “tpl” folder and modify them to your needs. See the manual for details.

    AFAIK, the premium version ASA2 allows you to customise the templates directly from the WordPress Admin page.

    Thank you so much. I’ve just bought ASA2. We’re installing it on my old site now, and it will be on my new site – styled properly – when it migrates. The developer appears to have the measure of this, and I appreciate your assistance. Still feeling really dumb about this, though!!

    Don’t feel dumb! Not everybody can know everything. You always have to start somewhere.

    Good to hear that you’re on the right track now. Success!

    @kimsr I’m glad you chose ASA2. If you have any questions, please use the ASA2 support form: https://www.wp-amazon-plugin.com/support/

    @worschtebrot will I get a sales commission? :-)))

    @fjordkommission Are you registered for the affiliate program? ?? -> https://getasa2.com/affiliate-program/

    Ah, dang! No, not yet. I wish I had done that before ??
