How to change Menu Link Font Color

How can I assign each menu link on my navigation bar a separate color. I am using the MeGazine theme and can change them all to the same color but I want them to all have an individual color.

I have tried assigning each menu item a different color but nothing happens.
.nav #menu-item-828 a {color: #c00;}
