How to change “permalink” for pages?

  • I created several pages but notice that the permalinks add a number at the end (blog.site.com/contact-2/) When I try to edit the permalink to remover the number (blog.site.com/contact/) and save it doesn’t actually change it. The number still remains. How can I edit it? I have the same issue with the ‘slug’

  • under settings->permalinks
    in custom structure check if it does have any numbers
    you can put /%postname%
    witch will use your post name as a part of the address.

    as for the pages by itself, sometimes if you have created a page, than put it in the trash, and created another with the same name it adds the number to it. (happened to me before…)
