How would we change the position of the express checkout section? We find it a little bit too intrusive right on the top of the checkout page. In a worst case scenario customers will see 3 message boxes before they could even enter anything or choose the payment method. That’s perfect from PayPal’s point of view but I would consider this bad UX. The express checkout button should come after the order button. I will gladly modify a template, if this is the only option. It should be update-safe, of course.

    Thank you!

    Hi @cutu234

Can you provide an example of what you’re wanting the express checkout to look like?

    Thanks

    Sure, I gladly do.

This is the standard position of the express section:

You can easily see that there’s a lot going on before users could even enter their name, let alone choosing their preferred payment method. I would like to have the button here after the order button (“JETZT KAUFEN” = “order now”):

Even better would be right after the PayPal payment method:

    Thank you!

    Hi @cutu234

By moving the express checkout to the bottom of the page that makes express checkout kind of pointless. If a customer manually enters all of their billing and shipping info then there isn’t a need for express checkout.

Why don’t you disable express checkout and just enable the option to render the PayPal buttons in the payment method section? It seems like that’s what you are wanting.

On the PayPal Settings page, the option Checkout page Button Placement allows you to change the location of the buttons.

    Kind Regards

You’ve got a point here. This is much more complicated than I initially thought.

Believe it or not, but some customers complain, if the standard order now button is missing. They simply don’t understand that the button was replaced with the PayPal button. This is why I would like to keep the standard button.

However, I didn’t know that the PayPal button inside the payment method section works like the express checkout. Is there any difference between the the two methods in terms of the checkout process?

Sory to bother you even more: Is it possible to have an overview step before completing the order? At least here in Germany this is pretty much the standard. Users have to review their data before sending the order. This is crucial, if the address is, for example, a DHL Packstation. Otherwise the address would fail to validate.

Both methods have the capability to auto-populate the billing and shipping fields. I recommend testing out the different options so you can better understand how each feature works.

Is it possible to have an overview step before completing the order?

Typically plugins like Germanized provide that functionality. For German based merchants I recommend using the place order button since it integrates the best with the order review step.

    Kind Regards
