How to change the .htaccess in this case

    Hi
    I have made a wp multisite and also my wordpress is installed in its own directory. but I have some problems.
    I have modified the htaccess which is in the root of the site(not in the wp directory). Do I need to remove the following lines in the htaccess?:

    <IfModule mod_rewrite.c>
    and
    </IfModule>
