Create another user with admin priveleges and delete the “admin” user.

You can change the name of the default admin user with phpMyAdmin. Podz has a guide to resetting passwords here:

That will get you to the right place. Now instead of changing the password, change the “user_login” value from “admin” to whatever you would like it to be.

I’ve done this myself without any problems, but as always when editing the database, make sure you have a good backup first.
