The Plugin, after converting the images, keeps the original extension in the name and I think this is very bad and would like to remove it; for example, today it converts an image with the name: banner-1.jpg to banner-1.jpg.webp, but the ideal for me would be banner-1.webp. How to make this change, if it is possible?

    Hello,

I’m sorry that you don’t like it, unfortunately though, that is how it is designed to work. I would recommend having a look at the WebP documentation, specifically delivery, as it discusses this: https://docs.ewww.io/article/119-webp-delivery

    Yes I have same issue.
also i can not override naming rules from .htaccess ?
then how we can resolve that issue ?

The reason we have it the way we do is that it’s the most comprehensive way to cover different server types as well as ensuring that there are fallback options.

If you really would like to have this as an option, my suggestion would be to add your vote to our feedback forum about this topic. The more votes something gets, the more probable it is that we will implement it: https://feedback.ewww.io/p/option-to-remove-file-extension-from-converted-webp

Note this isn’t a guarantee it will happen, but it is a place where you can add your suggestions for how you would like to see things.

I am going to resolve this thread as I haven’t heard anything recently. If you have further questions, please feel free to open a new one!

I would also like to be able to choose a regular simple extension .webp
