How to Check Nofollow

Hi abkabk,

If you right click on the link on the front end and choose Inspect you can see the HTML code for the tag. If you see rel=”nofollow” you’re all good.

Otherwise there’s bunch of browser extensions which can tell you this sort of thing as well, especially in chrome ??

Sorry, either i didn’t explain my question properly or you missed the question ??

My question is specific to thirsty affiliate cloaked links for which i have set sitewide nofollow in Thirsty Affiliate settings.

A cloaked link on my site (example.com/go/here/) is an internal link. Inspecting this link won’t show me nofollow because it’s an internal link.

The cloaked link (example.com/go/here/) is actually redirecting to an external site (amazon.com/gp/?product…..), which is where the nofollow tag should appear.

My question is how do i see if all the external redirection link (amazon.com/gp/?product…..) has a nofollow tag.

EDIT: Had a quick look, basically, it won’t automatically add this stuff if you manually create links. It must be through the visual editor button. Makes total sense considering all those check boxes do is “print” the relevant code.

Nofollow tags are added to the links when you insert them into the post.

You must use the green “aff” button on the visual editor or the “affiliate links” button on the text editor for this to happen. It won’t work if you insert the link using the regular WP link tool.

“Nofollow” must be applied to your cloaked link tag, the one that is placed in your page/post. This just means that it isn’t followed as far as link juice goes (and there’s various exceptions to this these days, it’s not as effective as it once was). Once the plugin detects a click on that /go/link-here/ URL, the person is automatically redirected via as 301/302 redirect which occurs server side.

Keep in mind that nofollow tags are just relationship attributes on tags. It works like a directive to search engines spiders that respect the tag.
