How to choose which posts display on home page

  • On my website, all of the posts are published in their categories as well as on the homepage.

    This is a great feature, however I do not want all of the posts to be seen on the homepage, rather just one specific category.

    Is it possible to alter my wordpress to only display posts from the ‘News’ category?

    also, is it possible to remove all of the links under ‘Blogroll’ from the homepage…I dont like the way it looks on my theme.
