    Hello,

My website already has many pages (about 1000), but many of them are very alike. Now I would like to make the site multilingual. When I activated qtranslate, there are tabs appear for each page. How to copy all the content from the original language tab of the pages to the new language tab of the same pages?

    Thank you!

How is it right after activation? I think, all LSB should show the same original text, and in the column “Languages” of post list you see “Languages are not set”. This means that db entry does not have any language tags. It will stay like this until one of the languages texts is manually altered. There is no reason to worry about copying 1000 pages to anywhere. Is not it how you have it?

When you alter one of the languages, and then still want to copy other language to the current language, then simply do copy and paste, as it would only need to be done by a person.

Does it make sense, or did you mean something else?

    Hi John,

I mean after I enabled the new language, when I edit a page, I could see language tabs appeared (etc. English, Spanish). I would like to just copy the existing content to the new language tab of the same page so when people switch to the new language, they will see the same content, instead of seeing the empty page with message that the page is not available for that language. Is that the way to do such copy fast for many pages at once?

    Thank you

I was trying to explain that there is no reason to do copy since the contents would show anyway. Basically, copying like this would essentially remove language tags in db, but they are not there anyway in the beginning. Apparently something else is going on.

No, there is no operation like this and there should not be need for it.

Maybe option “Show content in an alternative language when translation is not available for the selected language.” on Settings/Languages page /wp-admin/options-general.php?page=qtranslate-x#general is what you need?

Oh, sorry I didn’t get you at the beginning.

    Thanks a lot!

    Hi John,

I would like to copy / duplicate content from English to German page as well… Because I am using divi builder, and with a “copy content to XY language” Button I could copy the whole structure etc. (and wouldn’t have to recreate it). Afterwards I could just click the text areas and translate the text – but images, slider, columns etc. would be already set.

    Lenny
