• I am having trouble uploading images to galleries. It used to work, but we upgraded NextGEN to version 2 and then several minor upgrades after that. Currently on version 2.0.31.

Is it possible to delete the entire plugin directory and do a new install of NextGEN without losing all my settings and images??

I am thinking that might solve the problem.

  • Don’t delete the plugin via admin, because you’ll lose everything.
If you want delete it without losing settings and images you have to do it via FTP. Settings are in DB and images are outside plugin’s directory, in /wp-content directory.
Anyway, if you upload the folder overwriting existing files it’s more or less the same thing, both aren’t a real new installation.

What do you mean “both aren’t a real new installation” ??

Is there no way to get a clean install without starting over on everything?

A clean installation involves erasing data from the database, so if you don’t want to lose your settings no, I think it ain’t possible.
If you deactivate the plugin and delete the files before upload them again from a fresh download, this can be cleaner only to avoid FTP go wrong in overwriting, but that’s all.
Maybe if you specify what are these troubles, you can get some help.
