• Hi there,

My website is running on multisite but for many years been only using 1 site on it so might as well convert it to a single site to avoid multisite compatibility issues on plugins.

I’ve been searching for several tutorials but the ones I’ve found were either too outdated or didn’t work.

Any tutorials that are recent and does actually work?
If is there any plugin that can do the job?

    Thank you!

  • the easiest way is to use All-in-one WP Migration with Multisite extension (not free)

I usually try to move hosting to a new server about once every three years unless the host is cloud-based or rock-steady!

In your case, I’d probably think about creating a new server account at the same host and export my content then import the same back to a new single install on the new server. Or a migration plugin!

But I’d also consider the site as-is. It never hurts to have a multisite handy if you might need it in the future and get along well with the multisite anyway.

Most plugins either support multisite, will work fine with multisite, or else there’s someone else’s plugin that does the same so I wouldn’t let potential plugins issues stop me.

If you do decide to change servers then keep your old server for a time until the move is completed.
