• Hi,
I have a problem on the new site and can not fix it on my own, so i am here asking for help, any assistance will be highly appreciated. It’s a business displaying type site.

I am a newcomer and a Chinese in WP web building, so please do not talk in very complicated words or professional code/css things, that’s too far for me at present. If it is a necessary to fix it by code ways, please make it specific clear, thank you!

The problem is: How can i place an EXTRA VERTICAL navigation menu in left/right side of the PRODUCTS page only? The other pages remains one default menu only(in Header section)

In my old webside, which’s hosted by a Chinese web hosting company, i can simply drag and drop an extra vertical navigation menu in the PRODUCTS page and its child pages only, it allows my customers easily switch between different product pages by click.

Here is a sample page for your reference if my words is complicated.
    https://www.chocolate-machines.com/products.html

I want this in the OceanWP theme, however i tried many methods, it didn’t work.

Also i have tried to install some high-rating plugins but none of them work perfectly.

Please enlighten me, thank you in advance.

  • Hello,

Go to Customize > Woocommerce > General and enable the custom woocommerce sidebar. Now go to Dashboard > Appearance > Widgets and add custom html or widget to display the menu only in the woocommerce sidebar.

    Thanks for your reply, Amit.

I have deleted Woocommerce, it added a shopping cart in my page header, just can’t live with that even though a short css code can hide it.

Tried with another way by following your guide, i am writting it down here in case other pals face same situation with me someday:

    1) Need to creat a new menu for the Products page and its child pages only, which i named it as vertical menu.
    2) Go to Dashboard > Pages > Products page > Page Attibutes set as Default template, do NOT set it as full width template, don’t know why but the sidebar will not comes out in the full width template.
    3) Go to Dashboard > Widgets > Left sidebar > Custom menu(Select the vertical menu in step 1), set the menu position(Left or Right of page) and other things like font.
Once it done, refresh the products page, a new vertical menu appears.

By my method i don’t need Woocommerce and other risk-unknown widgets.
Meanwhile using elementor i can add all the products in that parent products page, and put links on all the images which will lead you to the specific child page.

I just initially completed the parent products page, the next thing to do is build a child product page as template and then i can publish all the products with this template.

Thanks again Amit, without your reply i would never notice the custom menu in widgets. Full screen of English made me crazy in past days:(

    A modification to previous solution.
Step 3) Go to Dashboard > Widgets > Custom menu, set it as Default sidebar OR Left side bar > Default sidebar or Left sidebar, set Custom menu(Select the vertical menu in step 1), set the menu position(Left or Right of page) and other things like font.

Once it done, refresh the products page, a new vertical menu appears.

I now choose the default sidebar to add custom vertical menu, and it comes out all the pages with a vertical products menu (Home and Contact not included because i set both of them OceanWP page attribute as full width page), including the child product page, so i don’t need to set the left sidebar of each child page anymore.

    That’s All.

Glad to hear that you found a solution and thank you for sharing it. It will surely help others if they have a similar issue.
