How to create a plugin that will automatically upgrade

Hello,

For plugins that I release through www.ads-software.com, when a new version is available the blog owner and simply update it through their plugins page when logged in. They don’t have to download and upload. It just happens.

I would like to know if I can provide the same functionality for plugins that I don’t release through www.ads-software.com.
