• I wonder if it is possible to create a library search page using WordPress?
I am new using WordPress and just have experience creating my own blog. Recently, I am helping a small library to create their library website. And I have some questions. If I have an Excel file which contains all the information, such as names of the books, authors and descriptions, can I create a search page that can let users search for the books in this database and get the result page?

    Thanks!

Without having ever attempted such a thing, I could imagine a solution that involves:

    (1) Importing CSV data into WordPress and mapping these to posts using a custom post type with suitable custom fields.

    (2) Creating a search facility to allow searching of those posts based on the data within those custom fields.

It wouldn’t be diabolically difficult and there are plugins to help achieve both of those steps, but I can imagine it might be a bit of a slog if you’re unfamiliar with the inner workings of WordPress.
