    Hi all,

I am very new to WordPress and don’t have much knowledge on it yet. I recently set up a website for a Finnish beer festival called “Kaljakellunta” (kaljakellunta.org) and I would like to do an English version of it to cater for tourists and expats.

The site would have a British flag on the top banner that you would be able to click on any page you are on and it would switch it to an English version under a subdomain (Kaljakellunta.org/en/). Ideally, I would first have simply a duplicate of the site that I could then manually translate into English.

The plugins I currently have on the site include:
    -Wonderplugin gallery
    -Facebook plugin
    -BBpress forum
    -BSW contact form
    -Google Analytics Dashboard for WP
    -Backup

What would be the easiest way to realise this?

    Thanks in advance!

  • From the “Multilingual WordPress” page of the Codex:

“WordPress does not support a bilingual or multilingual blog out-of-the-box. There are however Plugins developed by the WordPress community which will allow you to create a multilingual blog easily.”

The page goes on to list a number of potential plugin solutions, and describes the types of multilingual approaches that various plugins might employ.

I have personally used both Polylang (a free plugin) and WPML (a paid plugin) with success on a number of projects. Both work well.

I would suggest reading the Codex page that I have linked to, and then researching some of the plugins that are mentioned on that page, to see which one will likely meet your needs.

Awesome, just installed Polylang and it makes this whole thing so easy for me. Thanks!
