How to create a second website

  • Hello everyone,

    I encounter a limitation in WordPress that surely has to do with my low knowledge. I currently have my website escultura.es and I want to leave it as it is but while I develop another one with another theme so that when it is ready I replace it with the current one.

    I have seen in the forums that in some post they say that in the dashboard at the top left there is an option to “create a new site” but I don’t see any option.

  • I think the option you are looking for is only available when hosting via wordpress.COM. The difference to www.ads-software.com, which is discussed here in the forum, is described here: https://www.ads-software.com/documentation/article/wordpress-org-and-wordpress-com/

    In your case, I would recommend installing a 2nd WordPress installation within your hosting. Your hoster’s support can tell you how to do this. In the 2nd installation, you prepare the new web as usual. As soon as you want to go live with the new website, change the domain in your hosting from the old to the new domain. Your hoster’s support can also help you with this.

    Thank you for answering so quickly. I just talked to my domain providers and it seems like you were absolutely right.

    I think I can now get to work on this website so thank you very much for your suggestion!
