• Forgive me, if this is the wrong place to place my request, but I don’t know where to go for an answer. If anyone can guide me to a more appropriate site, I would appreciate it.

I am trying to create a tutoring website. So far, I have purchased a domain, a host, and, with the help of someone else, have downloaded & installed WordPress. A major obstacle lies in the fact that I don’t really know that much about such things, so I am having to learn everything as I go.

The website I am creating will offer tutoring with the option of tutoring students for nothing or of allowing the students to give a donation, the amount of which will be strictly up to the student being tutored.

The overall goal of the website (for me) will be to donate 100% of the money received to a charity, such as Smile Train or a similar humanitarian group. I haven’t really decided which humanitarian group to help with the money, yet, as I am trying to find one with a good ‘track record.’

So here’s my problem/question: Is there a way for me to set up the website so that I can know how much money has been donated to the humanitarian group, each month, via my website?

I don’t care to know who donates or how much any particular student donates, but rather the running total of how much has been donated as a result of my website. The reason I want to know the running total is to know whether or not my time and effort is really producing any actual donations to the humanitarian group; if not, then I will move on to some other way to raise the money, forgetting the tutoring idea.

I want the students to be able to donate directly to the ‘target’ humanitarian group, without sending any money to me, thereby letting them see that I am not tutoring for personal profit.

As stated, if they wish, I will tutor them for free; however, if they see that my personal goal is to not only help them, but to help someone else at the same time, through their donations, then some of them might be more willing to donate, no matter how little.

I realize that it would be possible to simply embed a link to the humanitarian group’s “Donate” button right into my website, but how do I keep track of whether or not my website is actually accomplishing what I hope to accomplish? If I don’t keep track, I could possibly be tutoring for years, all the while thinking that I am funneling donations to Smile Train (or wherever), when, in fact, they were receiving nothing, in which case I should’ve been doing something else to help them.

Any ideas? (Sorry about being so long-winded, but it’s kind of a unique question, I think, and hard to explain in only a few words)
