How to create Author Page?

    Hello, first of all I would like to say thank you for the free and awesome theme you allow us to use. And I would like to know if it is possible to have a page for listing several authors including their profile on a page, instead of using Jetpack Authors widget, because I might have around 10 authors and its going to be a long drop down widget.

    So I want to know if it is possible to share their image and profiles on let say an “Authors Page” using the current Ryu theme version, or is their any plugin that can handle that objective and hopefully not conflicting with other plugins.

    I wish on the next Ryu update it can include a page template for displaying authors ??

    Hmmm, there is this Authors Page plugin, but it hasn’t been updated in around a year. You could try it to see if it works.

    Past that suggestion, you could create a page and then add the author’s widget to the sidebar and use widget visibility to have it appear only on that page, with no content on the page, and then use CSS to hide the content div and expand the sidebar area to the full width. I’m not entirely sure how that would work visually and it make be that some adjustments could be made to the styling of the widget to get it acceptable.

    The other way would be more work, which is to create a Child Theme and create an Author’s page template and then write the necessary php and html for that page to pull in the authors. You would need to also create all the necessary CSS to make it look good and work well on all screen/window sizes.

    Thank you for the suggestion, I think the 1st one is helpful and is currently my possible option.

    As for the 2nd option, well I am not good with coding, I can try doing that on the long run and hopefully your update on the theme which can include a template theme arrive sooner. Who knows???

    Back to the 1st option, I found this plugin instead of the Author Plugin.

    If the plugin I mentioned do support displaying authors on a page by adding some code to it, then everything is good. I will try it today and see how it goes and if it works, I’ll mark this topic as resolve.

    Okay this is what happen. I installed Simple Author Box and works very good, but they don’t yet support specifically for author page, either using short code or other methods.

    So, I try using Author Page plugin and still work too.

    I know maybe is not perfect or other expected, but at least the issue is resolve. For now.

    I still hope the future update on Ryu can include several templates, especially for authors. Thanks again for all the help.

    Musadiq, glad you have things working. Author page templates are not something that has been discussed by the theme developers. What would be nice would be if someone would come out with, and support a plugin and keep it updated. I’ll pass your request for an author page template to our theme developers though. It might be something that we start to include in out themes, but maybe not. It will all depend on what comes out of the discussion.
