    I need to add .htaccess Files to my site structure.
    is there some kind of default file?
    I searched but couldn’t find a “template” for this.
    I need .htaccess Files for all folders

  • I don’t think there really is anything like a ‘default’ .htaccess file, though you can find a lot of examples and tutorials online.

    WP will create an .htaccess file for you if it can when you update your permalinks, otherwise it tell you exactly what you need to put into the file. Look beneath the main permalink form for that information. Copy that, open textedit or notepad or some other text editor (not a wordprocessor like MSWord), paste the information into a new file, save it as .htaccess with no extension (no .txt or .html… nothing) and upload via FTP to your server root.

    Just create an empty text document, then rename the file.

    If you’re using Windows, you’ll be prevented from renaming the file to .htaccess , to get around this just uploaded the file as is “any name”, then rename it once it’s on the server.
