    Hello,

First off, I have been tirelessly searching for help and finding relevant articles to assist with my inquiry. I am afraid to say, I found to no avail. So, if anyone can please help, I would be forever grateful.

I don’t know how to structure my bonus landing pages (more than 100) without affecting SEO. Each landing page will have the SAME content.

So, for example, test.com/bonus1 will have the same landing page as test.com/bonus2. The only difference will be the link that’s embedded in a button on that page to claim your bonuses. When someone clicks the button on bonus1 page, it will take them to a different URL to claim the bonus than the bonus2 page.

Given that I am going to offer more than 100 bonuses with the same landing page, how do I set this up in WordPress so that my SEO doesn’t get affected? I don’t want to create subdomains, because that would mean more than 100 subdomain records need to be entered in my registrars DNS.

I read about subdirectories but since I am a novice, I am not sure how to set one up. Would I just create a subdirectory like test.com/bonuses and then inside that subdirectory I can list all 100 bonuses and create separate pages for them like test.com/bonuses/bonus1, test.com/bonuses/bonus2?

Or should I just create WordPress pages called bonus1, bonus2, etc.? But I heard that since my content will be the same, this can affect SEO.

I don’t know what to do. I am so confused. Any help would be graciously appreciated!

    Hi there,

As long as it is going to have the same content, so you will have a SEO problem as you said.

In this case, I would set those pages to do not get indexed.

You could do it using a plugin like Yoast.

After installing Yoast, so you just would have to go on those pages/posts, then “Advanced”, and set “No” on “Allow search engines to show this Page in search results?” field.

If you have a custom post type to do it, so you could also go to “SEO” > “Search Appearance”, then find your post type (e.g. “bonuses”), and on “Show Bonuses in search results?” set as “No”.

Please be careful, if you select the wrong post/page or post type it won’t index.

    Hi Felipe,

Thank you so much for your fast response man. I really appreciate it brother! I really do! ??

This makes a lot of sense now.

So what do you recommend. Forget about subdirectories and subdomains, and just create many pages within WP while setting indexing within Yoast to off mode?

If yes, so in essence, if I was going to offer let’s say for now 100 bonuses, I will create 100 different WP PAGES/POSTS (not subdirectories) within the WP dashboard like:

    test.com/bonus1
    test.com/bonus2…….
    test.com/bonus100

To clarify, if you were in my shoes, is this how you would structure it?

Thanks so much again. God bless you!

Hi @rebornhairppp, you are welcome!! ??

I have created a plugin that will create a place on your WordPress admin, then you have to create those pages there. That is what I would recommend you.

Just download it, and install this plugin on your WordPress: https://github.com/felipeloureirosantos/wp-bonus-landing-pages

Then go to “SEO” > “Search Appearance”, and find bonus. Just set “Show Bonus in search results?” as “No”.

    (@rebornhairppp)

Ok thanks for creating this plugin. Really nice of you to do that! ??

So I uploaded the zip plugin and it shows a new item on the left titled Bonus.

I then went to Bonus > Add New > and created a Bonus #1 – Test Page

I then went to Yoast SEO > Advanced > Set Allow search engines to show this Bonus in search results to NO AND set Should search engines follow links on this Bonus to NO. I then hit the blue published button.

But after I published it, when I go to this URL: https://digitaljoegeorge.com/bonus/bonus-1-test/ I get a “Oops that page can’t be found message”?

    Any clue why this happens?

By the way, for testing purposes, I did create a new page under Pages > Add New. I called it test and it actually shows up when you go here: https://digitaljoegeorge.com/test/

So it seems creating Pages under the Pages item works, but creating pages under your plugin or the Bonus item shows a different erroneous result.

Any help man would be greatly appreciated! I don’t mean to take up your valuable time like this!

No worries, we are here to help!

Please try going to Settings > Permalinks, then set it as “Post name” and save changes.

    Now it will work. ??

    Thread Starter rebornhairppp

    (@rebornhairppp)

It has already been set as Post name from the beginning before I downloaded your plugin.

    Any other clues??

    Thread Starter rebornhairppp

    (@rebornhairppp)

Nevermind. It is now working. So weird. My Post name was set from the start. But I went ahead and clicked save changes under Permalinks even though I didn’t change anything.

Viola. The page now works my friend! ??

    Thank you so much.

Just curious to know, what did this plugin actually do? Create a subdirectory called bonus???

    Moderator Felipe Santos

    (@foosantos)

No, it creates a different kind of post. Everything is a post on WordPress.

So you have e.g. Media, Post, Page, etc.

Now you also have Bonus. It is a more organized way dealing with WordPress.

When you press to save changes on permalinks it regenerates the permalinks, and that is why I asked you to do that.

In case you don’t have more questions, so please change the status of this topic to resolved. ??

Awesome my friend. Thank you for the clean and simple explanation and fix.

I will now change this topic to resolve. ??

    Hey Felipe,

So sorry to bother you my friend. But I am using a pagebuilder called instabuilder to build my landing page. However, I cannot edit the bonus pages using this instabuilder plugin. I can only edit pages created under the Pages option in WordPress.

Do you know how can edit the bonus pages under the Bonus option using instabuilder?

I really need your plugin to work with my page builder.

    Moderator Felipe Santos

    (@foosantos)

    Hi @rebornhairppp,

Usually you can set it on plugin settings, so please try going to Instabuilder settings, and there you might find an option to activate it on this post.

As this plugin is not free and it is not here on www.ads-software.com, so I can’t try it out.

If that doesn’t help you, so I recommend you the Elementor Page Builder as it is a free plugin (with Pro version available): https://www.ads-software.com/plugins/elementor/

    (@rebornhairppp)

    Hey Felipe,

That was my first area of attack. I went to Instabuilder settings and couldn’t find an option to enable it for custom post types.

Though, I can see the edit with Instabuilder option on the regular posts and pages. See video below which also includes Instabuilder settings:

Question. At the end of this clip you can see that Instabuilder gives you the option to save as HTML or export. Will this help by any chance?

Also, do you know of any code I can use to insert in Instabuilder php files to add the edit feature next in my custom post type for bonuses just like how it is there for the regular Post type and Pages?

    (@foosantos)

I’m sorry, but I can’t provide support as it is a commercial product. It was supposed to have an option just like Yoast.

If you use a commercial theme or plugin and need support, please go to their official support channel. In order to be good stewards of the WordPress community, and encourage innovation and progress, we feel it’s important to direct people to those official locations.

    https://asksuzannatheresia.com/

Forum volunteers are also not given access to commercial products, so they would not know why your commercial theme or plugin is not working properly. This is one other reason why volunteers forward you to the commercial product’s vendors. The vendors are responsible for supporting their commercial product.

    (@rebornhairppp)

Sure thing Felipe. Not a problem one bit. Thought I’d ask. No worries.

Yes. I have already submitted a support ticket to the plugin’s developers. Thank you for pointing me in that direction anyways ??

Thank you for all you have done to help me with this inquiry. It means a lot to know how good the WP community is with their innovative assistance. ??

Take care my friend and I will mark this thread as resolved!
