    I just got started, I’m creating a site that will have only pages (no posts). I watched a ton of videos and I was confident that I was ready to create my first WP site. Turns out that my confidence was misplaced, because I managed to create a page template, but I can’t figure out how to create a page based on that template (and I’m not even sure that that’s what I’m supposed to be doing).

    I’m using WP 6.7.1 and the 2024 theme. Here’s what I’ve done so far. (I don’t remember exactly how I got this far, but I’d like to think that I could do it again.)

    (1) I created a header pattern and a footer pattern.

    (2) I created a custom pattern for my pages. My pattern consists of my header, my footer, and a content block. (My page pattern is listed under My Patterns on the patterns list.)

    (3) I created a page template from my page pattern. It’s called Front Page. It appears on the list of templates under my name.

    I thought that I could create a page from the template, but I can’t figure out how to do it. When I add a new page and look at the page settings, the template seems to be set to something called Pages. When I select Swap template, it gives me a few page template options from which to choose, but the page template I created is not among them.

    And the page template I created is displayed as my home page, even though I haven’t actually created a page from that template!

    What am I missing?

    The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

    Ensure your template is correctly registered: Double-check that your custom page template is properly registered in your theme’s directory.

    <?php
    /* Template Name: Front Page */
