How to create pre-existing archive?

    I’m new to WordPress. I have installed and tinkered with WordPress. But I want to start a news site using a news template. I see how posts end up in the archive by month, year. I want to put items in the archive under dates way before I started using WordPress. How can I create and import posts into old dates in the archive?

    The posted date can be edited in the Posts menu. This puts it in the intended date of the archive. Cool!
