My site was created for me and is hosted on that company’s servers. However I am the admin and responsible for updates. I am new to WordPress and confused.

I want my site to have a static homepage. No posting date and no comment section. I don’t really want any comment sections on the site at all but especially for the homepage. I would like to accomplish this without messing up my Adsense feed. My site is https://www.bala-cynwyd.com.

Remember, I am a beginner so any straight forward steps in layman’s terms would be appreciated.

  • One you log in to the dashboard, go to “Settings” > “reading”
Select “Static Page” and select what page you want set as your home page and what you want as your blog page if any.

You shouldn’t have ‘comments’ on your static pages if you are creating “pages”, but when you are in your page or post scroll to the bottom and you will see “Comments and Pings” you can uncheck to allow them.

    Hi All,

I am having an issue with static home pages also: I know how to assigna different page to be a ‘blog’ and the front page to be a home page. However, when I have tried this with other themes, where there is a home and about page(typically) then I keep getting a new home page. In other words the original is still there and seemingly editable (it does not show as a page in the drop down menu in the settings/reading section

anyone know of a template for corporate business style that does not have ths issue?

    Cheers
