    When you search for my website in Google, under the link it would be nice to have a description, but instead it just grabs a sentence of my most current blog post.

    Is there a setting or plug-in that will allow me to target what text goes into the sentence or two that shows on my Google listing?

    Thanks

    Go to Appearance/Editor in your admin panel and edit the Header template. Then, add this (edit the description of course) amongst the other <meta> tags:

    <meta name="description" content="This is my totally awesome blog." />

    You’re welcome!

    That will give a general description of the blog. If you want a unique description for each page you’ll have to use a plugin

    There is a way to use the “Custom Fields” section on the post edit page.

    Here is the Codex page that gives some information on that.
