• Hello community, im looking to build an online marketplace pretty similar to autotrader.com.

After researching a lot I just came with two themes that grabbed my attention, one has the functionality and the other the looks and design, my main question is how can I mix them to obtain the best of both worlds?

GOOD DESIGN THEME is AutoTrader by THEMEFUSE (lacks marketplace function with frontend submissions)
    https://themefuse.com/wp-themes-shop/auto-wordpress-theme/

FUNCTIONALITY THEME is AutoDealer by THEMEDEPOT (has FES but lacks design IMO)
    https://themeforest.net/item/autodealer-car-dealer-premium-wordpress-theme/6767000?ref=ThemesDepot

So basically I want the AutoTrader theme with Register-Login, Custom forms to submit vehicles and membership or pay per add plug in at the end to submit listing. Any ideas on how can I accomplish this?

Believe me, Ive made my homework and researched SEVERAL plug ins but it seems after lots of trying and error I just got even more confused ??

I tried some Register-LogIn, then redirecting to blank page where I inster custom forms and then redirecting to a membership plug in but it just got a mess.

Thanks in advance for all your time.

I know this may sound creasy but even getting both themes and just switching the style.css file to the ”functional theme” will work?

Both have free licences to work with custom code 100%

Unless the themes use the same framework, chances are they output different html so mixing them will not work. Your choices are:
add a membership type plug in to the good design theme
add a child theme to restyle the good functionality theme.

I was researching how to set up the membership plug in on the good design theme HOWEVER i just remembered that the car submission is in the backend :/ So I would need custom forms for posts right ?

    Hello Alfonso,

You will probably want to look into S2Member –> Here although you might need the Pro version they offer, the S2Member plugin, with a little research and time invested should work for you. (the pro version has the payment processor functionality included among other things… you can see the comparison between what is included in the basic and what is included in the pro version HERE.

I am in no way affiliated with S2Member or it’s makers, but I was helping someone that was looking at doing the same basic concept as you.

    Help this helps!

If you’re going to sell a subscription to list vehicles:

    • use a membership plug in to collect fees and manage the permission level
    • grant subscribed users permission to post (using the standard editor for whatever post type your vehicles use).

Controlling how many vehicles can be posted will require some configuration but should be possible. Or hire a developer to do it for you.

developer quotes will run you from $300 to $900. (Price depending on US based or India based developer)
