I have been trying to deactivate breadcrumbs but cannot find a switch to toggle them off.

I have noticed people mentioning an “Advanced” area – but I do not have that option… and if I try to use “wpseo_advanced” in the URL to get there, I am told I do not have sufficient privileges.

    I am using 14.1 with WP 5.4.1

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

  • Hi,

Go to Yoast > Search Appearance > Breadcrumbs and there you can easily disable it. ??

    See this screenshot: https://prnt.sc/sl0zqo

    Hi @bizanimesh,

Unfortunately I do not have that option. Maybe once enabled the toggle disappears?

    See screenshot: https://prnt.sc/sl5ma5

    There should be an option.

I’m also using Yoast Version 14.1, but the option is displaying at my side. See here: https://prnt.sc/sl5v7s

If you have a free version of Yoast, please reinstall it from the plugin directory, or if you have the premium version of Yoast, please again download the plugin from Yoast official website and do the process of installation. ??

Tried that – and I get the same result. Is there a setting that only allows a particular user to manage some settings?

My current admin account was created AFTER the site was originally set up. Could it be that the ability to edit that option is bound to the old account rather than the admin role?

    Hi,

    I have found similar topic.

@doyenwilliams If the toggle to enable/disable breadcrumbs is not appearing, this may be due to a conflict caused by your theme. Can you please try temporarily resetting to a default theme such as TwentyNineteen and then checking whether the toggle to enable/disable breadcrumbs appears then?

Hi @devnihil – is there a database value that I can change (or insert) directly to effectively set the breadcrumbs to disabled?

    @doyenwilliams

The breadcrumb options appear in the SEO-Search Appearance-Breadcrumb section when you have correctly implemented the breadcrumbs. BUT some themes go ahead and implement integration with the Yoast breadcrumbs within their code.

We are not sure what was done on your site. We would like some more information.

    1. Can you confirm the Yoast breadcrumbs have been implemented? This guide explains more:?https://yoast.com/help/implement-wordpress-seo-breadcrumbs/#implement.

    2. Did your theme developer add support for Yoast breadcrumbs?

If you need to disable the breadcrumbs the filter wpseo_breadcrumb controls them. You would need to create some custom code using that filter to disable the breadcrumbs.

Unfortunately, there’s a difference between the support we can offer and the level of programming needed to change (core) features of our plugin. Since we don’t want to take the risk that we break your website by suggesting incorrect or incomplete code, we cannot advise you on how to make such changes. And even though we cannot be of any assistance, you’re completely free to change anything in the plugin to better suit your needs.

We highly recommend checking out?our list of Yoast Partners here https://yoast.com/yoast-partners/ in case you are in need of development.

We will also keep this issue open for 2 weeks in case someone from the community can help. Perhaps a developer watching these forums can assist further. After which, we will close in order to keep the overview.

hey @pcosta88 – you were correct, my theme developer added the code directly. I will code to hide same.

    Thanks!
