Hey, from May 25, 2018 comes the new GDPR from the EU. Pretty Links stores IP addresses. This is no longer allowed in the future. Is a change in the plugin planned to comply with the regulation?

We are working on various solutions to address GDPR across all of our products.

Hey! When are you planning to provide an update?

    @cartpauj
Please keep me informed. Any idea what we can do up to the pretty links GDPR (DSGVO) update?

    Best regards

Switching to simple click counts tracking method will be the best work-around for now.

    Hi cartpauj,

    I have made two tests.
First with active “tracking” option, second without “tracking”.
    1. Result of the fist test: click is count, ip is recorded
    2. Result of the second test: click is NOT count, ip is NOT recorded

Please let me know how can I track simple click counts without IP recording?

    Kind regards
    Mirko

Try switching to simple click count method, then go to your tools page and delete all hits. The track counts should start working afterwards.

For me the switch to “simple click count” worked. However this does not delete the old logs, so I manually cleared the table _prli_clicks.

    Hey,

any news or Should I do it like you say?

What should I write in my Privacy Policy?

Do you plan to add the feature to pseudonymize the IPs?

Same question as Kalusha: should there be something mentioned in the privacy Policy or will this be covered in the new wordpress version 4.9.6 ?

If you choose simple click counts method, then you don’t need anything in your privacy policy related to Pretty Links as no IP or other data is stored in the DB about the user.

If you do not choose simple click counts method, then I would recommend setting this: https://cspf.co/rZav/Image%202018-05-15%20at%2010.12.12%20AM.png

It will auto-trim clicks after 90 days.

Then in your policy you can state that the IP address is stored from users who click on shortened links on the site, for 90 days and is not shared with any 3rd parties (aside from possibly your webhost who would have access to your database and logs).

The data is used/processed to the extent that you as the site owner or whomever you provide access to your wp-admin – utilize the reports on the Pretty Links -> Clicks page.

We do have plans to anonymize the IP’s to help ease the burden of GDPR while using Pretty Links.
