I have some good spam protection on my blog. I use Spam Karma 2 and Bad behaviour and these together seem to block all spam.

However I am increasingly getting comments/trackbacks from strange sites.

The comments usually start with something like “Worth wrote an interesting post today!.Here’s a quick excerpt” and then it shows the post. My name is never quoted as the person writing the original post but the name changes every time.

Looking at the sites they don’t seem to be proper blogs,I thought maybe they were sites advertising stuff at first, but not all of them are full of adverts. Some sites have maybe only one or two google adword boxes.

Can anyone please give any insight as to what these sort of sites are?

For now I assume they are spam because they are simply annoying. I gather its an automated system as they never get my name right.

i get the same thing, its weird, i will follow their link and it takes me to their site full of other posts they have done the same thing with. One was a loan type of website that quoted one of my posts word for word and put their own name on it, but i posted a comment on their “about me” page, letting them know thats illegal and they removed it. however now i am getting a few of the ones that say it like your describing, “suchnsuch wrote an interesting post on (subject here) today, heres a quick excerpt”, then it will quote a random part out of it and link back to my site, i dont mind them doing that, as long as the name is correct and the link is correct, however i still treat their comment as spam.

They are called scrappers, and actually here is a good article about how to find and maybe stop some of it.

Thanks for the link. Most interesting, and fortunate to see a few plugins which may help.
