I have 180 unattached images on my site. I want to permanently delete them. Surely there is a way to do this in one go.

I can filter to unattached images and hit permanently delete but it only deletes the image I am on.

    • Click ‘Screen Options’ at the top right and set ‘Show on screen’ to 200.
    • Click ‘Apply’.
    • Click the checkbox just under ‘Bulk Actions’ to check all images on the page.
    • Select ‘Delete Permanently’ in the ‘Bulk Actions’ dropdown.
    • Click ‘Apply’.

If selecting all of the images causes an error from using too much memory, reduce the number on screen.

Thank you- worked a treat. Could I tank my site by deleting the used images as well in this way?

I am rethinking what images I use based on client selection.

Since I can’t possibly know all the ways images are used on your site, there is really no way I can know the answer to your question.

Just be sure you have a workable backup before any major deletions.

OKay I am confused about backup.

I use backup to dropbox but this seems to overwrite daily backups so only good for a day and database is missing it seems.

I had found a backup that emails the database and it was nice but mislaid it.

What oplugins will fully cover me for backup.

Ideally I would backup every 2 hours while I am working on the site.

Provided it will work on your host’s servers, EZPZ One Click Backup is the easiest I have found.

If you only need to backup the database (no plugin or theme changes), try WP DB Backup.
