    I am using [the7 theme] and using the Porthole Slideshow on the homepage…resized the images to 1920 x 568 so its full screen wide, and looking like I want it, but there is extra space right below the slideshow like its still wanting a taller show. Where can I go delete that dead space or make the text below scoot up ?

    I have theme option – general – layout set to “wide”

  • Before you change the CSS, make sure you have a place to put Custom CSS.

    There are several ways to change your CSS so it isn’t overwritten by an update to the theme:

    1. Create a child theme.
    2. Install a Custom CSS plugin
    3. Install JetPack and activate Custom CSS

    The code you need to put in your Custom CSS file is this:

    #main {
        padding: 0 40px;
    }

    Thanks Stacy

    That did the trick.
    Now… is there another simple code to raise the slideshow up the page too ?

    And if you knew how to get the google map at the bottom showing in IE9…you would REALLY be awesome !! ??

    Well, I take that back… that code moves the text up a pinch…but I changed the 40px all the way to 10px but I still want to move that text up (or move slideshow up) or both.

    Have you tried contacting the people who gave you this theme?

    Yes Andrew, that’s why I am here. Havent heard back from them. They are usually pretty good about responding, but sometimes takes a few days and I want to keep it moving.

    Paul,

    I found this google maps plugin and why don’t you try it because it says it works in IE9.

    Is your slider where you want it, because I noticed you had some text overlapping the slider?

    Cheers, Stacy

    Ahh, thanks Stacy. That is very nice of you to find that for me.

    I did go back and recopied the embed code to Google map and pasted in a “text box” this time…and it now shows. I guess some of these Google Map plugins have some compatibility issues, so just a simple text box works too. The paid theme the7 has a Google map plugin included but it didn’t work in ie9 it seems.
