    Hello,

I joined WordPress a couple days ago and plan to create a website for my business. I am super excited, but when I created my user name I was on the phone with my Host who was walking me through the process of set-up so I quickly created a short username thinking I could change it later. Much to my dismay I cannot change my username.

After discovering this, I read that basic usernames open you up to hackers. If I had been warned that the username could never be changed I would have taken a moment to create a complicated one. Please help! I just want to start over.

So far, every forum I have read on this topic feels like people are offended and self-defensive about asking such a simple question so I really hope I can get some gentle and positive responses to my dilemma.

    Thank you.

  • Is this a wordpress.com site or a self-hosted WordPress install?

My site is hosted by HostMonster and I am using WordPress as a builder and using the Divi theme.

I just hung up the phone with HostMonster. They uninstalled the WP install for me and I am in the process of reinstalling it now.

Was there an easier way? Luckily, I hadn’t built anything yet.

    Thank you!

If you have a self-hosted site, there there is no “account” to delete. www.ads-software.com distributes and documents the WordPress application but has no connection with any site running that software.

Oh cool, so I did the right thing then by calling my host. I am new to this. Thank you for the help ??

No problem. If you need any further help later on, you know where we are. ??
