How to Delete Yoast Cron Jobs Permanently

We understand you’ve deleted the Yoast SEO plugin and tables but it is still generating cron jobs in the backend.

Could you also let us know which Cron jobs in particular that you were still seeing generate even after removing all traces of data from the plugin?

Thank you for the quick reply and information.

We followed the instructions contained in the article you shared. All crons have been successfully deleted.

Must say, we were surprised to find that Yoast leaves behind more information than a plugin should after being deactivated and deleted.

While not easy to accomplish, we strongly recommend Yoast develop a separate tool that will remove all affected files, DB tables, and DB table entries when your plugin is deleted.

As you probably know, after deleting your plugin, we had to manually remove several Yoast database tables and approximately 80-120 entries located throughout several database tables other than Yoast’s. Leaving trash behind is not cool.

Would be great if you can reach out to your developers and present the challenge. I bet they’ll take you/us up on it.

Yes, even if you deactivate and delete the Yoast SEO plugin, there will still be traces of data left in the database, which is why for complete removal, we refer the user to delete all entries mentioned here – https://yoast.com/help/how-can-i-uninstall-my-plugin/#database

As for a separate tool or functionality that will remove all affected files, database tables, and database table entries, we would appreciate it if you could create a feature request here. Thank you.

We opened GitHub Issue No. 16956 nearly three months ago. NOTHING has been done about it. Read the GitHub issue and follow the trail.

Would appreciate if you can elevate this issue and help make things happen – in a positive awy.

This is NOT a new issue. It’s been around for a while.
