• This is not wordpress specific, but I’m guessing a lot of wordpress users have seen this, so let’s try:

I’ve been getting a lot of traffic from Yahoo lately. However, the referral URLs always show up as encypted somehow. They always start with hsrd.yahoo.com then a bunch of encrypted garble.

Anyone out there know what this could be? Yahoo News? A message board?

    Any ideas appreciated!

  • that would be just search results. yahoo like microsoft uses ASP.NET which has mysterious links. by the way your link took me to the homepage of yahoo..

Interesting.. that makes it pretty much impossible to tell what people were searching for, right? Know of any way to get around it?

sometimes the link includes the search query but with yahoo, i don’t think so. i just went to my traffic summary and checked traffic by yahoo search, the links start with r.search.yahoo.com/_ylt= followed by a code. i don’t think any stats plugin would extract the query from that link since there’s no #q= or ?s or any other tools.
