How to display 2 posts per line (like a 8×2 grid)?

I haven’t been able to find a theme that does this and am not sure how to set it up correctly…

I want to have the front page show 8 posts 2 per line

1 – 2
3 – 4
5 – 6
7 – 8

Each excerpt post will be a small pic with one line of text.

Kind of like on https://www.cssimport.com/ except he does 3 per line.

Any help would be appreciated.
