I installed the Business Connections plugin and entered a few organizations into the admin and the directory page displays fine on the website with the list of organizations I entered, but when I click on an organization in the website directory page, nothing happens. How do I get it to open a single page on the website with the organization’s details? Is there a page template that i need to install or setup to display a single organization’s details?

Please navigate to the WordPress Permalinks settings admin page, take a screenshot and share that screenshot with me? Thanks!

    Hi Steven,

How can I attach the screenshot? I don’t see a link. Do you have an email I can send it to?

    Regards,
    Chuck

Here are a few ways you can share that screenshot with me:

    • Upload the screen shot to a third party service like Snag.gy, Droplr or CloudApp or LightShot and then share the image link from that service with support

You can also upload the screenshot to your Media Library and share the link the Media Library creates.

The settings seem to be okay. When visiting this settings page, WordPress will refresh its rewrite rules which can correct the type of issue you are experiencing. Does the issue persist?

The Organization Name is not a link. I set the following in the Advanced Setting: “Enabling this option will turn the name of organization into a link. Clicking the link will take you to the page filtered by that organization.”

    What am I doing wrong?

When adding an Entry as an Organization, you need to have the “Name” permalink option enabled, which is enabled by default. Did you, by chance, disable this option? The “Organization” permalink option is only applicable to Individual Entries that have an organization filled in.

I set Name to be a link and now it works! Thanks! Since my directory is only businesses and not people, I assumed Organizations was the correct attribute to make the link and not the Name. I also have Default Entry Type set as Organization, so why didn’t the Organization link work? Either way it works now, thanks!

Now that I have it working, how do I enhance the single page display for a business to look the way my customer needs? Are there page templates to select from or what is the process to follow to enhance the page?

RE: I also have Default Entry Type set as Organization, so why didn’t the Organization link work?

The “Organization” permalink option is only applicable to the Individual Entry type that has the organization filled in. The purpose is to be able to have a list of individuals and be able to filter them by the organization that was entered.

RE: how do I enhance the single page display for a business to look the way my customer needs?

In what ways do you want it enhanced?

RE: Are there page templates to select from or what is the process to follow to enhance the page?

There are premium templates available, but, for the most part, the detail/profile view is identical.

I hope this helps, please let me know.

I’m referring to the detail page for each business. I need a multi-column detail page. Can you recommend an extension that makes multi-column detail page without customization?

For example this looks good: https://franklinny.org/member/name/blue-farm-antiques/ But the cMap description where this example is from, says it needs CSS to get multi-column. So I’m looking to avoid customization if possible.

The Connections info shown on that site is in a single column. The second column is the theme’s sidebar. This would be a feature/display style of the theme, not Connections.

    Does that help?

you’re right. So is there a multi-column template?

Sorry, no, the Entry detail/profile view in all templates is shown in a single column.

The results list, there are templates that have a columnar layout; here are the links:

Just curious why do I see “multiple column” in the description of the Gridder and Tile Plus templates?

Do you create the templates? If so, do you think you could create a multiple column template and we’ll buy it?

Most templates have two views; the results list view and the entry detail/profile view. The results list view is the initial view that displays the entries in your directory. The entry detail/profile view is the single entry view. This is very similar where the blog page shows a list of posts, and you can click thru to see the single post.

Those templates display the entry results list in columns as sown on the page and in the linked demo. The entry detail/profile page is not in columns; all templates show this view as a single column.

    Does that clarify it better?
