• By default WEBCOMIC places the comic title BELOW the Webcomic Media and navigation links (Universal Integration).
Is there a practical way to have the title appear ABOVE the Webcomic Media? Thanks for your help.

  • Well, you can do it by editing the PHP of your theme directly, but that’s risky…

I think the simplest way would be to create a shortcode that displays the page/post title. Then go to Appearance > Widgets, and put that shortcode in the “Webcomic Header” section.

    Shortcode-making directions:

Do you also want to hide the default title that appears below the webcomic media? Or are you okay with having the title show up twice?

Hi there, I have a similar question but a bit more complicated of a need, and I am not very familiar with manipulating WordPress themes/plugins. I’m attempting to put the Webcomic Media in between some custom text (like the Excerpt or Title for example, as described in OP’s question) and the other content (comments, other text, etc).

I’m also not seeing a “Webcomic Header” section in the Widgets. Are you referring to Webcomic Meta?

Here’s a screencap of my widget page, with “Webcomic Header” circled:

And here’s an example page, where you can ctrl+f “Volumes” to see where that HTML appears in the layout:

…I’m not sure I get how your need is different? It sounds like you also want custom text in the area above the comic media (where the “Webcomic Header” widgets go), and other content below the comic media (where it is by default).

…Yeah, I guess my need is exactly the same, but my brain wanted to move the Media itself. Thank you for your insight.

Fascinating! My widget page has none of those, just Media, Navigation, Meta, Syndication, and Infinite, and I can activate versions of each of those Widgets through the Collection’s settings. Could that be due to the Theme’s integration settings?

Okay, close enough! I’m doing exactly what you suggested in your first answer, but just editing the Webcomic Media widget to include stuff above it. Easy peasy! Thanks so much!

    Excellent!

And yeah, it’s a difference in themes. I use the Inkblot theme, which is designed for the Webcomic plugin, so instead of trying to integrate things it comes with a ton of them built in.

“Poke around in the widgets of your own theme until you find out where it wants this stuff to go” would’ve been my next suggestion =)
