how to display excerpts only on front page of blog?

    wp 2.7.1

    i have tried in wp admin area:

    settings>reading:

    For each article in a feed, show “Summary”

    but i still have full articles showing on front page.

    how can i show only excerpts of posts on the front page?

    any ideas appreciated!

    i used:

    “Have you considered just using the MORE button in your editor? Just put your cursor where you want to break the page and click MORE. Only that part up to the MORE link will show. Visitors have only to click the MORE link to see the entire post. I use it all the time for long posts.”
